Love and Chocolate

Bitter and sweet, shades from white to black
Love is like chocolate in its multiplicity
In sugary variations for saccharine lovers, it’s utopian, ambrosial, and lyrical
Characteristics and personalities diverse- its good both solid and melted
Bitter is as pleasing as sweet, as much heavenly and gratifying
It reads us like an open book, as if specially catering to our needs
From nuts to fruits, and sometimes mixed, it comes in honeyed crunches too.
It can liberate or trap us in a state of trance,
it can turn us into slaves
The soft texture melting on our tongues, like a spellbinding kiss
It is almost impossible to resist, and if we find the one, there’s no turning back
It makes us pine, and crave and want more and more
Sometimes it’s sickeningly diabetic sweet, and drives us crazy
Yet it is never enough
De-addiction is out of the question once we take the fall
There are times when we can’t take another bite, but the next day we want it just as much
All resolutions fail, no matter how motivated, we are mere puppets.

There is a crazy drive of passion, an obsession that takes control
It transforms us into possessive neurotics; sharing is out of the question.
Jealousy abound when it’s in another’s custodianship.
Yet forgive all follies immediately; anger is so short lived.
Its so satiating that even as a health hazard, one simply cannot say no.
